So here's the deal. In the spring of 2008, I did this project for my drawing class of a rain drop hitting the ground on impact. While finishing the project I was imagining how I could some how make the rain drops animate. Around that time I was taking a few Flash classes and I was really intrigued and fluid with After Effects as well. So like most people, I enjoyed my life away from multimedia land and started to lose my chops in this kind of stuff. Well in early October 2011, after producing the song you hear called "Track C", I ran into an old friend that got me thinking about multimedia again. The next day I was so excited that the only project I could think of doing was this one. After a week or two of planning and story boarding, I set up my music stand in the front room and took roughly 96 pics, in which you see at the very end of this piece. Out of all the pics I chose only one pic, the one that was positioned at the best angle, and brought it into Photoshop. Now I wanted to get those rain drops into there own layers to work with. So instead of using some fancy trick to automatically break them apart, I manually went in and copied, masked and basically created 130 rain drop layers. Once I had those layers, I just colored over the existing piece to make the background. At this point once I had all my pieces together to work with I pondered on what kind of story I was going to tell with this stuff. I knew it would be a rain theme or something along those lines. Now due to green screening issues, I had to bag my original idea and just go with the material I had and make something out of it. So, the video you see in the background is basically a tun of effects to cover up the mistake I made while shooting the original footage. I also made those little colorful, floaty things you see, which are suppose to be clouds, out of the background layer. And obviously the blue things, that yes look like snow, are the 130 raindrop layers I made. I also wanted to show the viewer that everything you see, besides the video, were taken from that drawing. That's why you see all the rain drops and the background come together towards the end. Anyway, this was something I had in the back of my mind for 4 years that I wanted to take on. And I did it! But not just for fun or pleasure. The whole idea behind this thing is to promote myself and say, hey, I am able to produce and record my own music, make animation and basically do any type of production work for you. I also kind of consider this somewhat a reel. A very long reel.... Oh ya, this was built in After Effects! Many, many, many key points.... Enjoy!
